On 21st September 1969, Mexicana @boeing 727-64 XA-SEJ crashed shortly before landing at Mexico City International Airport, killing all 27 people on board. The flight was operating a domestic service from Mexico City to Acapulco. As the aircraft approached the airport in poor visibility, the crew descended below the minimum safe altitude and the Boeing 727 impacted a swamp 1.5km northeast of the runway. An investigation was unable to determine the exact cause, but likely factors included pilot error and the challenging weather conditions during the non-precision approach. It remains one of the deadliest accidents involving the Boeing 727. This heartbreaking incident serves as a somber reminder of the importance of aviation safety. Let's honor their memory by ensuring aviation remains one of the safest modes of transportation. #boeing #boeing727 #Mexico #Mexicana #ThrowbackThursday #AviationSafety #aviationgeeks #avgeeks #TBT #throwbackthursday
