By 2019, Airbus became the leader in aircraft manufacturing against its stronger and more competitive aircraft manufacturer; Boeing. The company took the lead and was able to grab more airliner orders than Boeing. The company has the capacity in designing, manufacturing, and selling civil and military aerospace products worldwide. The company has three divisions: Commercial Aircraft, Defence and Space, and Helicopters, Interestingly, the company has been able to pull a substantial amount of revenue from its helicopter deliveries.

Airbus Commercial Aircraft

Airbus manufacturing locations are spread across Europe and beyond. Some of the major locations for its assembly lines include,

  • Hamburg,Germany (A318, A319, A320 and A321)
  • Seville, Spain (A400M)
  • Tianjin, China (A319 and A320).
  • Mobile, Alabama,USA — (A220, A319, A320 and A321)
  • Mirabel , Canada (A220)
  • Broughton, Wales – Wings construction

Workshare and Transportation

In addition to these major locations, Airbus also has a number of other plants in different European locations. Large A380 parts are brought by ship to Bordeaux, France, and then they are transported to the Toulouse assembly plant through a specially enlarged waterway and road route. The company also has multiple suppliers across the world to support its products.

The famous Whale shaped ‘Beluga’

The famous Airbus Beluga has remained an instrumental solution for moving aircraft parts between the different factories and the assembly plants. It is a huge cargo aircraft capable of carrying entire sections of fuselage. An exception to this scheme is the A380, whose fuselage and wings are too large for sections to be carried by the Beluga.
